The Byrna SD Launcher Canada Kit is a compact CO₂-powered less-lethal launcher package designed specifically for the Canadian market. The SD uses Byrna's patented Pull-Pierce technology, allowing an installed 8-gram CO₂ cartridge to remain unpunctured until the first trigger pull, when the cartridge is pierced and the first projectile is launched.
The Canada Kit comes packed in a protective zippered carrying case with the launcher, two 5-round magazines, seven 8-gram CO₂ cartridges and multiple training and kinetic projectile options. The SD features an ergonomic honeycomb grip, improved sights, a straight trigger and an ambidextrous safe/fire selector.
One of the Byrna SD's defining features is its patented Pull-Pierce system. Rather than requiring the installed CO₂ cartridge to remain punctured while the launcher is stored, the system is designed so the cartridge remains unpunctured until the first trigger pull.
When operated according to the manufacturer's instructions, the first trigger pull pierces the CO₂ cartridge and launches the first projectile in the same action. This design allows the CO₂ supply to remain sealed before use.
The SD uses an 8-gram CO₂ cartridge and Byrna lists approximately 22 shots per cartridge, although actual performance can vary with temperature, cartridge condition and other operating factors.
The Byrna SD Canada Kit includes much more than the launcher itself. Inside the protective zippered carrying case you'll receive:
The Byrna SD Canada Kit packages the SD launcher together with magazines, CO₂ cartridges, training projectiles, kinetic projectiles and a protective carrying case, eliminating the need to purchase the basic components individually.
The compact design, ambidextrous controls and Pull-Pierce CO₂ system are key features of the SD platform, while the included training projectiles give owners appropriate equipment for becoming familiar with the launcher and its operation.
The Byrna SD is powered by an 8-gram CO₂ cartridge.
The Pull-Pierce system allows the installed CO₂ cartridge to remain unpunctured until the first trigger pull. According to Byrna, the first trigger pull simultaneously punctures the cartridge and launches the first projectile.
Byrna Canada's specification table currently lists the SD at 280 fps. Its product feature section separately states projectile speeds of up to 300 fps.
Byrna lists an effective range of approximately 60 feet (18.3 metres).
The included magazines have a 5-round capacity, and two magazines are included with the Canada Kit.
Byrna lists approximately 22 shots per 8-gram CO₂ cartridge. Actual results can vary with operating conditions.
The current kit includes 5 Kinetic projectiles, 5 Eco-Kinetic projectiles, 5 Pro-Training inert projectiles and an additional 50-count bag of Kinetic projectiles.
The SD is classified as a compact launcher and measures approximately 7.28" (183 mm) long and 1.61" (41 mm) wide.
Byrna Canada currently sells this model as its Canada Kit, but possession, transport and use can be subject to applicable federal, provincial and local laws. Customers should confirm the current rules applicable to their circumstances and intended use.
Yes. Read and follow Byrna's current operating and safety instructions before loading, handling, storing or using the launcher.
